Eastern Oregon is a place were the high desert in the southeast is even drier than the land of the Columbia Plateau.Clouds drop most of their moisture on one side of the mountain as rain or snow. When the clouds move over the other side of the mountain little moisture remains.Theres a place called pendleton and there they make blankets that are diffrence colors. This drier side of the mountain is said to lie in the rain shadow. On the west side you ride through green forests of short-needled fir trees.Air moving over ocean picks up water vapor which forms into clouds .Warm winds push clouds up mountain.Cooler temperatures cause rain and snow.Clouds have less moisture.
